Week 1 and 2 of May, we gathered in the zoom room to discuss and create affirmations. Kara led the discussion...
Goal - to create a list of positive affirmations that are a reminder of what each person is moving toward... also think about why you want to achieve the goals, and why you deserve them.
2 reasons to use Affirmations:
a. To reprogram the subconscious mind to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves.
b. To help us create the reality we want.
From Jack Canfield:
"Daily affirmations are to the mind what exercise is to the body.
Repeating affirmations helps to eliminate negative and limiting beliefs and transforms your comfort zone from a limited one keeping you trapped in mediocrity to a more expanded one where anything is possible. Affirmations can also create higher vibrations for happiness, joy, appreciation, and gratitude that then, through the law of attraction, magnetize people, resources, and opportunities to come to you to help you achieve your goals."
8 GUIDELINES FOR CREATING EFFECTIVE AFFIRMING STATEMENTS...
1. Start with the words "I am". These are the two most powerful words in the English language.
2. Use the present tense.
3. State it in the positive. Affirm what you want, not what you don't want.
4. Keep it brief.
5. Make it specific.
6. Include an action word ending with -ing.
7. Include at least one dynamic emotion or feeling word.
8. Make affirmations for yourself, not others.
Louise Hay:
"An affirmation is really anything you say or think. An affirmation opens a door. It's a beginning point on the path to change. You're using affirmations every moment whether you know it or not."
"Every complaint is an affirmation of something you think you don't want in your life. Every time you get angry, you're affirming that you want more anger in your life. Every time you feel like a victim, you're affirming that you want to CONTINUE to feel like a victim."
"Thoughts create our experiences. Saying affirmations is only part of the process. What you do the rest of the day and night is even more important. Affirmations are like seeds planted in soil. Poor soil, poor growth. Rich soil, abundant growth. The more you choose to think thoughts that make you feel good, the quicker the affirmations work."
Kara: It's so important to watch what comes out of our mouths... as survivors, we don't want to bring more unhappiness and suffering our way. Here is a beautiful morning affirmation... start with this...
Today is a day of happiness and peace.
I am grounded and centered. I am grateful for my beautiful life that is filled with many blessings. I move through my day with consciousness, grace, and love.
